You’ve probably got some secrets of your own – things that are better left unsaid. Then again, some secrets are just too good to keep, and with the power of social media, secrets can spread like wild fire.
It was a Saturday morning when the +Beryll team was having coffee and reading through the news feed when we noticed The Stones had announced a secret show that would be played that night at The Echoplex. For those of you unfamiliar with The Echoplex, it’s a very intimate theater which holds only 700 people. Talk about an epic show. The only way to get tickets (which were being sold for $20) was to rush to the El Rey Theather and stand in line with thousands of other fans and await your chance to win the lottery and see the show. The news was announced at 12:30 PM, however somehow the announcement had slipped through the cracks and fans had been lining up outside the theater since 1 in the morning. No matter what time you arrived to enter the lottery, each and every person had the same chance at winning.
The sale officially started at 1 PM and ended less than 30 minutes afterward. The +Beryll team made it to El Rey just in time and was lucky enough to win a ticket and attend the show. Wristbands were strapped on and were unable to be removed. One fan was auctioning off his wristband on Craigslist for the price of $1 million, as it would be included with his actual wrist!
No cameras or digital devices were allowed inside, so we swiped this footage from Rolling Stone Magazine so you can take a look :
The Stones played some hits and threw in some surprises as well. After they opened with “You Got Me Rocking,” a fan yelled out a request for “Respectable,” and surely enough, that was the next song on the list.
Here’s a look at the Set List:
“You Got Me Rocking”
“She’s So Cold”
“Live With Me”
“Street Fighting Man”
“That’s How Strong My Love Is”
“Just My Imagination”
“Love In Vain (with Mick Taylor)”
“Midnight Rambler (with Mick Taylor)”
“Start Me Up”
“Jumpin’ Jack Flash”
This may be the last time the world will see The Stones on tour, and it can only be described as epic.
